Applying for a Full Service Library Card

Library cards are free to residents of Texas. An application must be filled out in person along with at least one of the following:

  • Texas residents need a valid government-issued ID or driver’s license
  • Non-Texas residents need a government-issued photo ID and Texas address on application

Juvenile Library Cards

A parent/legal guardian who wishes to sign their children up for a library card must fill out the application form on behalf of the child. A parent/legal guardian will have two options:

Option 1: A parent/legal guardian may apply for a juvenile library card on behalf of a juvenile 17 years of age or under. This card can be used to borrow materials, use library computers and access our databases. The ability to access databases and e-books may vary depending on your county of residence. Juvenile library cards cannot be used to check out circulating hotspots.

Option 2: A parent/legal guardian may choose to sign the child up for a restricted card, which requires the parent/legal guardian to be physically present when materials are checked out, and only items with a juvenile call number can be checked out on the card. Restricted juvenile library cards cannot be used to check out circulating hotspots.

By signing the application form, the parent/legal guardian assumes responsibility for the child’s selection of materials and use of electronic resources, as well as any fines and fees.

Non-Resident Cards

Non-resident cards are available for a $30 annual fee. This card allows you to check out 10 items at a time and provides access to library computers.

Patron Privacy

In accordance with state law, the library cannot give out patron information.
