Local nonprofits that serve children are invited to apply for the City’s grant-to-partnership program that allocates funding for child safety initiatives.
About the program
Funding for the program comes from the $1.50 child safety fee that is assessed when residents register their vehicles in Victoria County. This funding must be used for child safety and welfare services as defined by state law.
In fiscal year 2023, the City of Victoria used the funds to provide grants for the following programs:
- Boys & Girls Club of Victoria: After-school programs for different age groups
- Golden Crescent CASA: Volunteer recruitment, training and retention
- Hope of South Texas: Renovation and improvements to the child advocacy center that serves victims of child abuse
- Mid-Coast Family Services: After-school programs and other activities for at-risk youth
