EDITOR'S NOTE: This story was updated at 11:21 a.m. Oct. 15 to include roads in Victoria County that will be monitored for potential flooding.

The Guadalupe River is expected to flood this weekend due to heavy rainfall upstream, and the Victoria Office of Emergency Management is encouraging residents to exercise caution.

The National Weather Service predicted that the river will rise above flood stage on Friday and then reach major flood stage on Saturday. The river is expected to crest at about 30 feet, the first time it has reached this level since Hurricane Harvey.

City officials will go door-to-door after lunchtime today in low-lying areas to notify residents of potential flooding.
