City Attorney

The City of Victoria operates as a municipal corporation, and the City Attorney serves as its legal counsel, providing legal guidance to the City Council as a governing body and to City officials. This includes providing legal representation in any lawsuit involving the City.

Responsibilities

The City Attorney protects the interests of the City by reviewing or preparing legal documents, including real estate transactions, contracts, claims, and other legal actions in which the City has an interest.

The City Attorney ensures that the City, along with its elected and appointed officials, adheres to the City’s Charter, Code of Ordinances, and Texas Local Government Code when conducting the business of the City.
