The City will host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, to celebrate the renovation of the Riverside Park duck pond.
The free event will feature guest speakers from the City as well as the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, which helped to fund the improvements. The ribbon-cutting will be livestreamed on Facebook at City of Victoria, Texas – Government.
Immediately following the ceremony, the City’s Parks & Recreation department will host a free kids’ fishing event. Adult supervision is required, and a fishing license will be required for adults age 17 and over. Refreshments will be provided.
The City is planning to install a plaque at the duck pond honoring the late Nylece Putnam, who designed the original duck pond. The plaque will be added to the entryway sign at a later date.
