The Riverside Park duck pond with soon be filled with new fish to catch—but first, they will need some time to grow.
Fishing will not be allowed at the duck pond starting Feb. 26, except for City-hosted fishing events such as the upcoming kids’ fishing camp. Fishing will reopen Sept. 1.
The City stocked the pond with perch fingerlings and feeder fish in October 2023, and young catfish will be added in March. The closure will give the fish time to grow and spawn, allowing the fish population at the pond to become established.
Signs will be posted at the pond to notify residents of the closure. Residents who are seen fishing during the closure will be reported to the Texas Game Wardens and may be ticketed.
