Residents will have a chance to elect a City Council representative for District 3 during the May 4 election.
Filing for the City Council election opened Jan. 17 and closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 16. The following candidates filed for election:
- District 1: Rafael “Ricky” De La Garza, III
- District 2: Steven Kidder
- District 3: April L. Butler; Woodrow Wilson Wagner, II
- District 4: Jan Scott
Because Districts 1, 2 and 4 only attracted one candidate each, the elections for these districts will be canceled and each candidate will be declared an automatic winner.
The election for District 3 will be conducted by the Victoria County Elections Administrator.
Dates to remember
- Deadline to register to vote: April 4
- In-person early voting begins: April 22
- Last day to receive an application for ballot by mail: April 23
- Last day of in-person early voting: April 30
- Election day: May 4
All winning candidates will be sworn in during the May 21 City Council meeting after the current terms expire.
