Volunteers collect litter and bulky trash Feb. 24 during the Silver City neighborhood cleanup hosted by Keep Victoria Beautiful in partnership with Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. About 170 volunteers collected 65 bags of litter, delivered 170 potted plants and helped residents move brush and bulky trash to their curbs for pickup. The City of Victoria Environmental Services picked up 31 tons of brush and bulky items, as well as 165 old tires, and the Victoria Fire Department distributed 30 free smoke detectors. A total of 113 households were helped during the event. Sponsors for the event were Appliance Pro, Del Papa Distributing, H-E-B, The Box Coffee Bar and Waste Management.
