City of Victoria offices are experiencing limited computer access due to the global Microsoft outage.
The City’s IT department is working to restore access on City devices, prioritizing public safety, infrastructure and frontline services.
The City’s emergency response services are not affected by the outage. IT has restored service to 911 dispatch and other critical services.
The outage, which is affecting companies and government organizations around the world, was caused by a faulty update to Microsoft software. The outage was not caused by a virus or other malicious means, and there is no threat to the City’s data security as a result of the outage.
In addition to emergency response services, access has already been restored to the City’s water and wastewater services and some nonemergency services, including the City’s Utility Billing Office. Other services are expected to be restored throughout the day.
All online services are functional, including bill payments; library catalog access; and the City’s municipal television channel, TV15, available online at www.victoriatx.gov/tv15.
Residents who need to access City services are encouraged to do so online at www.victoriatx.gov if possible.
