[ARCHIVED] Lucha libre, racing armadillos: Tejas Fest offers more than music

The City of Victoria’s first-ever Tejas Fest will feature a lineup of activities that pay homage to past festivals and incorporate new fun for residents to enjoy.

  • Lucha libre (underwriting sponsorship available)
  • Kids’ Corral (underwriting sponsorship available)
  • Mother Cluckers Vendor Market (underwriting sponsorship available)
  • Joel NovosadTrick roper Kevin Fitzpatrick
  • Roving performances by Mariachi Nuevo Victoria

“Our first Tejas Fest will be one of the highlights of our yearlong bicentennial festivities,” said Discover Victoria Texas Director Joel Novosad. “As part of this celebration of Victoria’s past, present and future, we wanted the festival to include familiar elements of Bootfest and Armadillo Fest while crafting its own unique identity.”

Setting the stage(s)

Lucha Libre De Leon Plaza October 5th. Bell rings at 1 p.m.On Saturday, festivalgoers will be invited to the Mother Cluckers Stage at the corner of Bridge Street and Constitution Street to enjoy the musical stylings of local bands, ballet folklorico and even a few magic tricks.

In addition to the previously announced mainstage lineup, the following performances are scheduled for Oct. 5:

  • 10-11 a.m.: Zachary Grant (Performance Pavilion), Devyn Whittington (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: J&B Duo (Performance Pavilion), Chelsey Markum (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 12:15-12:45 p.m.: Magician John O’Bryant (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 12:45-1:45 p.m.: Drew Oliver Band (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • Trick roper in cowboy attire jumps over his rope on top of a horse1:45-2:15 p.m.: Magician John O’Bryant (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 2:15-3:15 p.m.: Kool & Together (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 3:15-4 p.m.: Victoria ISD Ballet Folklorico (Mother Cluckers Stage)
  • 4-5 p.m.: Velvet Drive (Mother Cluckers Stage)
