Residents will be able to browse thousands of books, DVDs, audiobooks and music CDs at bargain prices when the Friends of the Victoria Public Library hosts its final 2024 book sale beginning September 15.
The sale will be in the Bronte Room of the Victoria Public Library, 302 N. Main St. Sale dates and hours are:
- Sunday, Sept. 15, 2 to 4 p.m. (members-only access sale)
- Monday, Sept. 16, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday Sept. 19, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to noon
This sale offers a wide variety of books and other materials for all interests and ages. Most items are priced at less than $2. Proceeds from the sales produce the majority of funding for the Friends. That funding, in turn, provides financial support to the library for programs, amenities and services.
All sales are cash or check only. No credit or debit cards are accepted.
The Sunday sale hours are set aside for members of the Friends. New members are welcome to join at that time. Annual dues are $10 for basic membership, $100 for sponsors or $1000 for benefactors.
The sale closes on Saturday, September 21 with the Stuff the Bag event. Patrons may use their official FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK BAG to take advantage of the clearance event. Any remaining merchandise that can be stuffed in the OFFICIAL BOOK BAG is only $1 with unlimited refills. This offer is only valid with the use of the official FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK BAG. Bags will be available at the sale for $7 and are available year-round at the Victoria Public Library Circulation Desk. Previously purchased FRIENDS bags may be used from sale to sale for this offer.

About the Friends of the Victoria Public Library
Funding from the Friends makes it possible for the library to offer special programs at no cost to patrons. Funding from the Friends supports programs such as the Summer Reading Program, Winter Passport Adventure, Gingerbread House Event and many other programs for patrons of all ages. Funding also enhances the services and amenities at the library.
During the current fiscal year, the Friends have donated over $35,000 to the library.
Support our mission
The Friends seeks donations of gently used books, DVDs, audiobooks and music CDs throughout the year for its sales. Donations may be delivered to the library during regular operating hours.
Community members are encouraged to join the Friends or renew their memberships with annual dues of $10. Membership envelopes are available at the library.
Residents will have the opportunity to join or renew their memberships during the upcoming book sale, including during the Sunday members-only sale.
