The City of Victoria Parks & Recreation continues the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Winter Games with a new addition of e-sports for all video game lovers.

The Winter Games will start on Feb. 15 with the following events:

  • E-sports- University South Building, Feb. 15; the venue will open at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 10 a.m.
  • Flag football- Riverside Soccer Complex, Feb. 15 at 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Feb 16 at 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The City of Victoria and UHV have partnered up to have an e-sports tournament at the University South Building for all gamers. Competitors will battle it out on Super Smash Bros while others can sit down and watch their friends and family compete. Friends and family can also watch the competition on the livestream at www.twitch.tv/jag_esports.

Formosa Plastics is sponsoring the event along with providing the materials needed for the livestream.

Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Steven Gallagher said he is excited to see how many visitors the Winter Games will bring to Victoria this year. Parks and Recreation had reached out to UHV in hopes of adding e-sports to the Winter Games of 2025.

Parks and Recreation has hosted multiple Super Smash Bros tournaments in partnership with UHV. These past tournaments opened the doors for the e-sports event.

“It only felt right to add it to the Winter Games of 2025,” Gallagher said. “The University South building is the perfect place for the event, where many people can play or watch the competition.”
