The Victoria Public Library has received the statewide 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award for the third year in a row for its consistent efforts to better serve its patrons with activities, services, and programs.
The Achievement of Library Excellence Award is presented by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association to libraries that provide many different opportunities for their community, including services for underserved populations, unique services to the public, and literacy support for all ages.
“We are excited and honored to receive this award,” Library Director Jessica Berger said. “Not only because it is an achievement for us, but it is also confirmation that we have served our community to the best of our abilities, and we still strive to do so.”
In 2024, the library established new and improved resources and services to better meet the needs of Victoria residents. The Victoria Public Library has added more seating areas for patrons of all ages to sit down, work, study, or read. The library has also continued to supply new technology for residents and connect them with resources.
The library has also added a new pickup locker at the Victoria Mall to provide easier access to resources. This pickup locker ensures that residents who are unable to go to the library in person still have access to the materials they may need.
The Victoria Public Library has not only added new programs and materials, but it has continued to provide story time sessions for children and their parents, along with hosting multiple educational programs for teens and adults. These programs aim to teach patrons how to build professional characteristics, be authentically creative, and live a healthy life.

“This award does more than recognize the excellence of the library itself,” Development and Partnership Coordinator Kayla Martin said. “It also is a way to say ‘well done’ to the staff and their efforts to make the library what it has become. It proves that all of their hard work has not gone unrecognized.”
