Northisde Road will be reconstructed from Navarro Street to Parsons Road this month as part of an agreement between Victoria County and the City of Victoria.
On Sept. 2, crews began conducting point repairs on Northside Road in preparation for the reconstruction project.
Full reconstruction work will begin Sept. 8. The project will be completed in phases to minimize traffic disruptions, but the road will be closed to through traffic at times during the project.
All homes and businesses in the area will remain open and accessible. Crew members will help to direct traffic in the work zone.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution in the work zone and obey all barricades as well as instructions from crew members. Through traffic can avoid delays by seeking alternate routes.
The reconstruction is expected to finish by the end of the month, weather permitting, followed by minor striping and roadway cleanup.
Victoria County and the City of Victoria have entered into an interlocal agreement to reconstruct all of Northside Road under a single contractor. The City is funding the portion of the project within city limits, and the County is funding the portion outside of city limits.
