[ARCHIVED] Tejas Fest is this weekend in downtown Victoria

Tejas Fest. October 3rd and 4th in downtown Victoria. Free admission.

Friday. Michael Salgado, Loca Pasión, Madison Pulido, Saturday. Pecos and the Rooftops, Cory MorrowTejas Fest returns to downtown Victoria in just a few days, and residents won’t want to miss this celebration of everything that makes our community “True to Tejas.”

The festival will be this Friday and Saturday in downtown Victoria, with activities starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Cluckers Downtown will host a vendor market during the festival along with 15 food vendors.

The De Leon Plaza performance pavilion will feature Tejano music on Friday and country music on Saturday. The headliner for Friday will be Michael Salgado, and the headliner for Saturday will be Pecos & The Rooftops.

The festival will also feature performances by local artists Saturday on the Kids’ Corral Stage, presented by East Point Energy.

Saturday’s festivities will also include:

  • Chihuaha racing, tamale eating and other exciting competitions
  • A car show and cornhole tournament
  • Fun for the kids, including a petting zoo and Kids’ Corral with over a dozen activities
  • Lucha libre
  • A free photo booth
  • Trick roper Kevin Fitzpatrick
  • Roving performances by Mariachi Tapatio

Street closures and parking

The following streets will close starting at 6 p.m. Thursday:

  • Forrest Street between Glass Street and Main Street
  • Constitution Street from Glass Street to Liberty Street
  • Bridge Street between Goodwin Avenue and Constitution Street
  • Main Street between Goodwin Avenue and Santa Rosa Street

Map showing street closures in a grid pattern around De Leon PlazaThe stoplights at Bridge and Goodwin, Main and Goodwin, and Main and Santa Rosa will change to a four-way red flash starting at 5 p.m. on Friday. Four-way red flashing lights should be treated like stop signs.

Handicapped parking will be available on Goodwin Avenue between Bridge Street and Main Street.

Street parking is free. One O’Connor Plaza has opened its parking garage for a $20 fee.

Stay connected

The City is still seeking volunteers to help with the Kids’ Corral and beer booth. Volunteers will receive an exclusive Tejas Fest volunteer T-shirt.
