[ARCHIVED] Keep Victoria Beautiful hosts citywide Fall Sweep

Bags of trash are piled on the ground and in a trailer by an Adopt a Highway sign361 volunteers came together to clean up their community Sept. 9 as part of Keep Victoria Beautiful’s fourth annual citywide Fall Sweep, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.

Portrait of Christy Youker“This citywide cleanup is a wonderful display of Victoria residents coming together to make something important happen,” said Christy Youker, assistant director of the City of Victoria Environmental Services and executive director of Keep Victoria Beautiful. “We are truly grateful for the efforts of our volunteers and sponsors.”

Volunteers picked up 275 bags of trash along 24 miles of TxDOT right of ways, serving 20 separate locations.

A group also helped to plant fall gardens at the Victoria County Community Gardens at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center.

The Salvation Army, The Chopping Block and Del Papa Distributing provided food and drinks for the volunteers.
