The City of Victoria is accepting applications from organizations seeking hotel occupancy tax (HOT) funds for events and programs that bring overnight visitors to Victoria

Under state law, the City of Victoria collects a hotel occupancy tax from hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and other lodging facilities. The revenues collected may only be used to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry.

Organizations that bring overnight visitors to Victoria—including arts, historical and sporting events—are eligible to apply for hotel occupancy tax funds. Only those events and programs that generate meaningful hotel night activity will be considered.

All requests for funding must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. CDT on July 31. The application form is available at www.victoriatx.gov/hotfunds. Applicants should submit applications via email to jnovosad@victoriatx.gov.

Applications will be reviewed by a HOT funds subcommittee of the City of Victoria’s Tourism Advisory Board, and recommendations will be made to the City Council in September. The City Council will make final decisions on funding.

Informational sessions covering the HOT funds application process and the evaluation process will be held on the following dates at 700 N. Main St., conference room 205:

  • Thursday, July 3 at noon
  • Tuesday, July 8 at 6 p.m.
  • Monday, July 14 at noon
  • Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m.

Attendance at an information session is part of the application process and will be taken into consideration during application scoring.

For more information, please call Discover Victoria Texas at 361-485-3116.
