[ARCHIVED] Keep Victoria Beautiful earns Gold Star Affiliate status

Keep Victoria Beautiful has been named a Keep Texas Beautiful Gold Star Affiliate, a designation that recognizes beautification programs that are making exceptional efforts to improve their communities. 

Large group of people posing with trash bags and other debrisOnly 86 of KTB’s nearly 300 affiliates are Gold Star Affiliates, according to a news release from KTB. To earn the designation, Keep Victoria Beautiful shared information about its community cleanups and educational outreach, including engagement levels.

In addition, Keep Victoria Beautiful Executive Director Christy Youker was required to attend training sessions and conferences to learn about strategies being used in other communities.

Portrait of Christy Youker“This recognition is a true reflection of our community’s engagement and their commitment to the environment and each other,” Youker said. “Our community earned this award together, and residents should be proud that their city has a Gold Star Affiliate beautification program.”

KTB will formally recognize the new Gold Star Affiliates at its annual conference in June.

“Our affiliates are the backbone of our organization,” said Keep Texas Beautiful Executive Director Suzanne Kho. “We are proud to honor those going above and beyond to keep their communities clean and beautiful.”
