The Victoria Fire Department recently conducted a Fire Prevention Poster Contest at local and area schools in observance of National Fire Prevention Week. City and County-Wide First-place winners of the poster contest were honored and recognized at an awards ceremony held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Victoria Fire Department Training Center.

The Victoria Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Division is recognizing the creativity of local students who are using their artistic skills to raise awareness about fire safety and Smoke Alarms.

The fire department hosted its annual poster contest in honor of Fire Prevention Week, inviting students to create posters based on this year’s theme: “SMOKE ALARMS Make Them Work For You.”

The winners at each grade level are as follows:

1st grade: Arabella Alvarado, Our Lady of Victory 

2nd grade: Braxton Crisp, Vickers Elementary 

3rd grade: Autum Hilscher, Nazareth Academy

4th grade: Emersyn Arnold, Mission Valley 

5th grade: Luke Ortiz, Dudley Elementary
