Mission
The Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) is a crucial component of fire prevention in the City of Victoria. The Mission of the Victoria Fire Marshal’s Office is To Excel in Fire Prevention, Education and Investigations.
Duties
The Victoria Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for fire prevention and investigation within the City of Victoria. Fire prevention includes inspections, plan reviews, public education, and code enforcement. The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for determining the origin and cause of fires within the city limits.
Management
The Fire Marshal’s Office is managed by Fire Marshal Tom Legler and has four full-time employees who are responsible for Fire Inspections/Investigations and Public Education programs. Inspectors/Investigators are multi-disciplined, holding certifications as police officers, emergency medical technicians, fire inspectors, firefighters, and investigators.
Fire Marshal Legler is a designated Fire Marshal through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). The CPSE offers an internationally recognized third-party verification of professional competence in fire and emergency services.
