Protect pipes responsibly

During sub-freezing temperatures, resident should follow these tips to protect their pipes without burdening the City’s water supply:

  • Please allow only the farthest faucet from your meter to slowly drip. If you live in an apartment, only let one faucet drip in your unit.
  • Cover the faucets outside the house to keep them from freezing.
  • Open up cabinets in your house to let air circulate around indoor pipes, and keep your house warm.
  • Turn off your sprinkler/irrigation lines.
  • If you have a leak, contact Public Works at 361-485-3380 to turn your meter off.
